engrown toenail

You will be surprised how many I operate every week because of engrown toe nail. And the reason for this illness is because of frequent pedicure. Let the toenails grow more than the toe for a awhile. Don't cut the corners. This will allow the toenails to insert into the side tissues

  1. I remember the first time my wife returned back from having herself a manicure and pedicure. I saw how the nail was cut back beyond the cuticle. I was shocked. I said that is a the setup for an engrown nails. My wife said that is how all salons cut nails in the Philippines. I was shocked. I come to find out there is no required training to be a barber, hair stylist, or manicurist in the Philippines. In the U.S. you have to study for a year, take a two day oral and written exam to practice any of these occupations. It appears in the Philippines you just hang out a sign a do your damage without any oversight or consumer protection.

  2. I'm sure not all engrown toe nails are caused by too frequent pedicures.
Providing those having a pedicure cut their nails straight and then gently file from the center of the nail outwards, taking care not to round the corners of the nail, then pedicure lovers shouldn't suffer engrown toe nails.
I think mistreatment of the toe nails and the way they are cut/trimmed is the cause, not the pedicures themselves.
